The building was before a Kedah State High Court built in November 1922. Later on June 2005, the building emptied and renovated in 2007. On 22 February, 2009, this newly renovated building was launched as Gallery Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’Adzham Shah (SAHMS).
The gallery displaying the private collections of KDYMM Al Sultan Amu’tasimu Billahi Muhibuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu’adzham Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah as the king of the ruling government of Kedah.
