Ulu Bendul Recreational Forest

Ulu Bendul Recreational Forest is positioned at the southern edge of the Titiwangsa mountain range in the Peninsula Malaysia, and on the fringe of Batang Terachi River within the district of Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. Discovered in 1917, it is later popularized as a leisure area by Tuanku Muhammad in 1920. Because it is located at the upstream or “hulu” in local dialect while the mountain is regarded as a barrier or “bendul”, thus the name Ulu Bendul is permanent till today. According to research, the rainforest reserve is estimated to be around 130 million years old.

Various activities can be enjoyed here in the forest where some of these outdoor activities include camping, jungle trekking, fishing as well as swimming. For fellow mountain climbing enthusiasts, they can surely start exploring the hillside terrain around the Ulu Bendul Recreational Forest.  One of the favored mountains here in the Ulu Bendul Recreational Forest is known as Mount Angsi and on top of that, it takes about four hours to conquer this 825 meter tall mountain. On top of Mount Angsi, the breath taking view overlooking the lush green forest at the foot hill is definitely worthwhile. Aside from the Mount Angsi, there is another river here known as the Batang Terachi River and in addition to that, this river is flanked by masses of boulders where all these boulders create a natural dam along the river flow.

Accommodations such as chalets and A-shaped huts are available here and the rate to stay in these places is between RM 19 to RM 30 per night. Being one of six recreational parks in Negeri Sembilan developed for eco-tourism, the nature journey promise crystal clear rivers, cascading waterfalls, and various strange and vibrant tropical plants and animals.
