The Crown JapaMala takes its name from the prayer beads for mantra meditation. A symbol of peace and bliss, take pleasure in true seclusion amid 11 acres of lush wilderness flanked by an inviting beach. The only boutique resort on Tioman Island, JapaMala is often snowed under by nature-lovers, and those who yearn to simply self-indulge. JapaMala lies on the South West corner of Tioman Island means that it is mostly sheltered from the East Coast Monsoon which is usually takes place on Nov to Feb. The Monsoon season is characterized by frequent showers and discontinuous sunshine. During this time seas are rougher and underwater visibility is not as good.

SEAVIEW SARANG

  • Seaview Sarang is the largest and most lavish room in JapaMala Resort. As “Sarang” derived from the Malay language, meaning ‘nest', this ‘love nest’ rests on a low terrain and is built with a kitchenette and a semi-outdoor dining room.
  • Special features - a bathroom with sky view and jungle view, a private swimming pool, timber sun deck as well as a separate open-air hydro pool.
  • Basic treats - exclusive spa toiletries, a complete mini bar with wines, champagne, flavored teas, hot chocolate and an Espresso machine.

HILLSIDE PLUNGE POOL SARANG

  • Split-leveled rooms and are perched high on the hillside.
  • Private features - a hydro pool, outdoor shower, timber dining deck and tanning bed.
  • Basic treats - exclusive spa toiletries, a complete mini bar with wines, champagne, flavored teas, hot chocolate and an Espresso machine.

JUNGLE SARANG

  • Jungle Sarang placed away on the lower terrain of the resort and adorned with an open-air bath tub with the rainforest as its backdrop, hidden enough to allow total privacy.
  • A spacious private living area good for dining, sunning or simply relaxing, and distinctively designed for the total experience of living comfortably in the jungle without foregoing the finer things in life.

SEACLIFF CHALET

  • Features the traditional living space adorned with a modern chic. It has the stunning views of the South China Sea and balmy breezes of the sea.
  • Each chalet is unique and offers a unobstructed view even from the shower room

TREETOP CHALET

  • Perched high above the luxuriant jungle canopy, these chalets are secluded yet situated only a short walk up from the beach.
  • These rooms offer an entirely different resort experience as guests can enjoy the noise of the jungle predominates: the soft rustle of windblown leaves; the chirping of crickets and birds; and the foraging of wild creatures at night.

PENGHULU'S HOUSE

  • The Penghulu’s House is the resort's only 2-storey-2-bedroom villa which placed on low terrain. While ancient-aged boulders fashion the interior, the rustic-style rooms are furnished with modern comforts of an urban home. The main bedroom offers the luxury of vast living space which opens out to a spectacularly close view of the sea and the ground room has direct access to the private swimming pool, just steps away from the foot of their 2 single beds.

TAMARIND TERRACE

  • Is the sister restaurant to award-winning Tamarind Hill & Tamarind Springs in KL.
  • Served Palatable Thai, Indo-Chinese as well as Malay cuisine.
  • Opens daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a selection of Western breakfast is also available.

MANDI-MANDI RESTAURANT

  • Built on stilts to hover above the sea some 100m away from the beach front, it’s features open-concept dining venue with overhung pavilions becomes the perfect tanning station for sun lovers.
  • Serves global cuisine with an Italian emphasis with a range of creative beverages to go with all day long.
  • Opens for lunch and dinner only.

SWIMMING POOL WITH TANNING PAVILIONS

  • A small swimming pool is adjacent to the Tamarind Terrace restaurant and the beach. The pool deck is spotted with tanning pavilions with convertibles for the comfort of shade and sun.

  • Comfortable and wide sun beds are perfect for lounging and lazing by the beach.

SAMADHI BOUTIQUE

  • Carries a range of house-brand Spaya Spa products, silver and hand-made jewelry, sarongs, an array of resort merchandize and clothing, Asian decor and antiques. There is also a range of clothing, from bathrobes to casual beach pants.

Among activities that can be done here including wildlife sightings, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, island hopping, jungle trekking, rock climbing and surfing during monsoon season.
