Taiping Zoo is a major zoological park which is located at Bukit Larut, Taiping, and Perak. It was set up in 1961 and is the oldest Zoo in Malaysia.

Taiping Zoo is currently home to more than 180 species of animals totaling - 1,300 individuals. These include Tigers, Lions, Elephants, Hippopotamus, Giraffes, Hornbills, Orang Utans and others. Furthermore, attempts to breed these animals have been very successful. This has seen the proliferation of such animals like the Malaysian Tiger, Lion, Siamang, Deer, Nilgai, Night Heron and many others.

Zoo is an ideal place for animals to thrive in their natural habitats. The natural lakes where lotus plants grow adds to the beauty of the surroundings.

Being the wettest part of the country means that the lush greeneries here thrive and the still undeveloped forest makes it an ideal holiday destination for the entire family.

It also has a night safari. As it is the only zoo in North Malaysia, it tends to receive a large amount of visitors. It houses the largest number of Stump-tailed Macaques in Malaysia, which is thirteen.

While here, take a quick tour by taking the mini train and then a closer scrutiny of the animals by walking around the zoo. Try looking at them during the feeding time that occurred everyday from 10am to 12pm. You can hop on the mini train that takes you around the zoo covering a distance of 2.5km, duration of about 25 minutes. The fee is RM3.00 per adult and RM1.50 per child. This train is available for both the day and night safari.

Admission :
The entrance fee for the day zoo is RM5.00 per adult and RM3.00 per child.
