Onde-Onde or coconut popper is one of the traditional Malaysian cuisines. Often known as one of the most cherished nyonya recipe for all seasons in the highly conspicuous, Onde-Onde are infused with screw pine leaf juice (pandan) and filled with palm sugar (Gula Melaka) and then rolled in with some fresh grated coconut. The palm sugar inside the Onde-Onde will literally burst in mouth when one takes a bite and it tastes very sweet and delicious. Also known as “Buah Melaka”, these mini green balls is the most gastronomic delights of nyonya in Melaka and usually served as a mouth-watering appetizer. The basic ingredients to make Onde-Onde are glutinous rice flour, coconut milk, grated coconut as well as palm sugar.
