Kuala Selangor Nature Park

The Kuala Selangor Nature Park (KSNP), or Taman Alam Kuala Selangor, is a vital sanctuary situated at the mouth of the Selangor River. Established in 1987 and managed by the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), the park spans nearly 300 hectares, comprising a unique combination of mangrove forest, secondary forest, and a man-made brackish lake system.

It is internationally recognized as an Important Bird Area (IBA), hosting over 150 species of resident and migratory birds, including herons, milky storks, and various wading birds. Beyond the avian residents, the park is home to primates like the distinctive Silvered Leaf Monkeys and Long-tailed Macaques.

Visitors can explore the diverse ecosystems via several trails and an elevated mangrove walkway, utilizing bird hides and watchtowers for optimal wildlife viewing. The park plays a crucial role in coastal conservation and offers accommodation, making it an excellent destination for ecotourism and environmental education. Its proximity to the famous Kuala Selangor firefly colonies and historical Bukit Melawati makes it a key highlight of the district.
