Namsan Seoul Tower

Namsan Seoul Tower, officially known as the N Seoul Tower, is one of Seoul’s most iconic landmarks, perched atop the 262-meter Namsan Mountain. The tower itself stands 236.7 meters tall, making its summit one of the highest points in the city, offering a combined elevation of nearly 480 meters above sea level.

Originally established in 1969 as South Korea’s first general radio and TV broadcasting tower, it opened its observatory to the public in 1980, after which it became a major tourist attraction.

Visitors are drawn to the tower for its breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Seoul, which are spectacular both day and night. The journey up the mountain is often as memorable as the destination, frequently done via the Namsan Cable Car or scenic hiking trails.

A defining feature is the ‘Locks of Love’ area on the terrace, where couples leave padlocks symbolizing their eternal affection. The tower complex also houses the revolving N Grill restaurant, cafés, gift shops, and media art exhibits. At night, the tower is illuminated with colorful LED lights that often change to reflect environmental status or commemorate special events, solidifying its status as a romantic and cultural centerpiece of Seoul.
