Chemerong Waterfall

Chemerong Waterfall, located in the Pasir Raja Forest Reserve in Dungun, Terengganu, is celebrated as one of Malaysia’s tallest waterfalls, reputed to drop vertically for about 305 meters. Visible from a distance as one approaches the Chemerong Forest Reserve, this natural wonder is a prime destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

Reaching the base of the magnificent main cascade typically requires a rewarding hike of one to two hours through dense, unspoiled rainforest terrain. Along the trail, visitors can enjoy the pristine, cool waters of Sungai Chemerong and discover inviting natural rock pools perfect for a refreshing dip.

Chemerong is most famous as the starting point for the challenging Chemerong-Berembun-Langsir (CBL) trek. This multi-day expedition allows dedicated hikers to explore not only the main waterfall but also Gunung Berembun and the tiered Langsir Waterfall, often involving overnight camping within the forest reserve. The area is praised for its rich biodiversity, towering rainforest trees, and serene atmosphere, making the journey itself as memorable as the spectacular destination. Visitors are advised to check local conditions, as the area may close during the monsoon season for safety.
