Lata Tembakah Waterfall, nestled within the Lata Tembakah Recreational Forest in the Besut district of Terengganu, is a significant natural attraction, located about 24 km south of Jerteh town. It is renowned for its impressive multi-tiered structure, comprising seven distinct cascades that tumble majestically through the lush Pelagat Forest Reserve.
The journey itself is an adventure, with well-marked trails and wooden walkways making the climb towards the higher tiers accessible. The main waterfall, often cited as the fourth tier, is a particularly striking sight, dropping to an estimated height of 80 meters. Visitors are encouraged to hike to the seventh tier for the most spectacular views of the cascade and the surrounding greenery.
Lata Tembakah is exceptionally well-equipped for visitors, featuring ample parking, food stalls, gazebos, and even chalet/dormitory accommodations, making it a popular spot for family picnics, weekend camping, and student motivation camps. The cool, crystal-clear pools at the base of the tiers offer a refreshing escape, and some natural rock formations even serve as fun, albeit slippery, natural slides. The park provides a perfect blend of easily accessible nature and moderate trekking challenges.
